Fireball Sailing

Official Blog of the UK Fireball Association

Probably the highest performance dinghy that just about anyone can sail in almost any wind strength, on any style of race course, on virtually any stretch of water.

Ideal for mixed crews, inland club waters or the sea, with entry level boats from just a few hundred pounds and with an active owners association protecting your interests, you could be forgiven for thinking that this is the only dinghy you'll ever need.

With an excellent open meeting circuit, World, European and National Championships, you'll never be short of good competition, boat on boat, crew on crew. With a social side to match you'll have just as much fun off the water. Perhaps this is why over 15000 Fireballs have been sold world wide.

Get involved this Autumn

There are lots of opportunities to get involved with what the Fireball Association is doing this autumn.

At the moment we are working on a number of projects.

50th Anniversary Calendar

We are currently seeking photos of fireballing from the last 5 decades. Why? Well we aim to have a 50th Anniversary Calendar available so you can buy them as Christmas presents.

So if you have any old (or not so old), fun or interesting images of Fireballs please send them in; Boats sailing, racing, cruising, falling over, building or renovating, alone or in fleets, humorous or serious, monochrome or colour - if the image is good, we want to see it.

Digital images should be of the highest quality you can manage and as big as you like!

Real photos - you know, that old stuff on PAPER - can be posted to Lesley Scarff at 52, Overhill, Southwick, West Sussex, BN42 4WJ. Photos received by post will be returned.

So please start hunting & send those photos in. You know you want to see YOUR image of YOUR boat in print!

If you don’t own the copyright, please tell us who does so the right person gets the credit.

Online Fireball Clothing Store

Again in time for the 50th year of Fireball we are developing an online Fireball merchandise store.  We have had a number of requests to have clothing and other goods available throughout the year. We aim to start of with a few standard options and build from there. Again we are asking for people to get in touch with their creative side and come up with some designs for the store. We are also looking to reproduce some classic designs from the past, so if you have fantastic design from the past lurking in your wardrobe send us pictures or even scan the t shirt design.

The 50th year logo competition

Your chance to design a special logo for the 50th Year of Fireballing. We are looking for a logo to be used in publications and on clothing.  We have no specific ideas in mind, but it does need to be easy to reproduce.

So get the creative part of your brain in gear and get started! As with this years competition for the t - shirt logo please provide submissions either in JPEG or PDF format or on paper (max size A4).

Send your entries to Lesley Scarff Editor Fireball News at;
